Hot Start Propels Seahawks To 4th Straight Win

A 12-0 run to start the game on Tuesday night propelled the Cecil College men's basketball team to a 91-70 win over the Vikings of Mercer County Community College, earning the Seahawks their fourth straight victory. These four wins included three conference games and two wins on the road. The Seahawks improve their overall record to 6-5 and remain 4-1 in conference action.

Capitalizing off a Vikings' turnover, Cecil College sophomore Greg Alexander drained a three-point shot, off an assist from Caleb Johnson, to kick off scoring for the Seahawks. Over the next three minutes, the Seahawks scored nine more points by Keyon Givens, Caleb Johnson, Carl Bradley, and Greg Alexander to hold Mercer scoreless with a twelve-point lead.

The Seahawks lead for the duration of the contest, taking their largest lead with 5:41 remaining in the game with a made layup by Jaqualyn Kelly and the dish coming from Raequan Williams. In only 11 minutes of play, Raequan Williams tallied 10 points, with a perfect shot percentage from the floor, beyond the arc, and from the free throw line.

Sophomore guard Greg Alexander lead the way for the Seahawks with 23 points, his second-highest scoring outing of the season. Alexander currently leads the Seahawks in scoring with an average of 14.3 points per game. Jordan Griggs finished with 13 points followed Caleb Johnson adding 11 points and six assists. Other Seahawks in double-digit points included Raequan Williams and Jaqualyn Kelly.
