Seahawks Wrap Up 2024 Season

WEST WINDSOR - Cecil baseball's season came to an end on Thursday with a pair of losses to the Mercer County Vikings.

The Seahawks conclude 2024 with a 10-38 record.

Game One - Mercer County 6, Cecil 5 - Box Score

Mercer County picked up a walk-off victory in the opener, scoring two runs in the seventh to steal the contest way from the Seahawks.

The Vikings led off the seventh with two singles. A defensive error followed by another base knock drove home both runs to end the game.

Couper Stala dominated at the dish, finishing a home run short of the cycle. The redshirt-freshman outfielder went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a stolen base.

Derek Santiago took the loss out of the bullpen, while starter Ashtin Keith struck out two over four innings but took a no decision.

Game Two - Mercer County 12, Cecil 7 - Box Score

The Seahawks and Vikings earned 10 hits each, but Mercer County exploded for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take game two.

Freshman catcher Franco Riposo led the Seahawks at the plate with three hits and two RBI. Sophomores Kevin Gamber and Justin Cordero each doubled in their final contest as a Seahawk.

Starting pitcher Chad Francis was stuck with the loss from the hill. Sophomore reliever Ryan Souders sat down three batters via K in his final appearance for Cecil.
