NORTH EAST - Cecil baseball saw their April struggles continue on Wednesday, dropping both ends of a doubleheader to the Mercer County Vikings.

The Seahawks fall to 10-30 on the season with the two losses.

Game One - Mercer County 20, Cecil 0 - Box Score

Mercer County starter Collin Williams was one walk from a perfect game, as the Vikings blasted the Seahawks 20-0 in the opening contest.

Cecil struck out 11 times and went down in order in all but one inning. A walk from Colin Brosh canceled out the perfect game in the bottom of the second.

The Vikings did most of their damage in the top of the second, plating 13 runs on six hits, five walks, and two hit batters. A grand slam to right center capped off the inning for the visitors.

The lopsided defeat is Cecil's largest since March 31, 2019.

Game Two - Mercer County 6, Cecil 5 - Box Score

A two-out rally in the seventh came up 90-feet short in game two, as the Seahawks dropped the second half of their two-game series with the Vikings.

Cecil's offensve improved in game two, tallying five runs on seven hits. Sophomore infielder Kevin Gamber got things going in the first with his RBI double down the left field line. A sacrifice fly from Kenny Scottborgh drove home another to put Cecil ahead. 

After a scoreless second frame, Mercer County went on to score five runs over the next two innings. Gamber responded for the Seahawks in the fifth with an RBI single that scored Christian Crutch, but the Seahawks wound up stranding three runners two batters later.

Couper Stala made her the same did not happen to the Seahawks in the seventh, as his eighth homer of the season pulled Cecil back within a run. Colin Brosh blanked the Vikings in the seventh, leaving the Seahawks with three outs to score a run.

The Vikings retired the first two batters of the seventh, putting Brosh on the spot once again. The freshman came through with a single up the middle to extend the game, then Kenny Scottborgh passed the baton on with a walk. After a wild pitch planted Brosh on third, Mercer County would record the final out to snuff out the late push.

Gamber and Brosh led the Seahawks with two hits. Hayden Kenney took the loss on the mound. On the basepaths, Ben Campbell led all hitters with two stolen bases.
