Harford Takes Down Cecil

BEL AIR - The Seahawks took on NJCAA Division 1 foe Harford on Thursday, suffering two defeats in a rainy affair.

Cecil's record drops to 8-18 after the two losses.

Game One - Harford 20, Cecil 4 - Box Score

Kevin Gamber's three-run home run made Cecil the front-runner, but the Fighting Owls scored four in the bottom of the frame to take the lead. A bases loaded walk in the second plated one for the Seahawks to tie the game.

A throwing error kicked off a big inning for Harford, as the Fighting Owls went on to score six runs on three hits and two walks. After both teams were held off the scoreboard in the third, Harford blasted Cecil for 10 runs in the fourth. The Seahawks went hitless during this stretch to seal the mercy rule victory for the Fighting Owls.

Hunter Sipel (3-4) was saddled with the loss from the mound. He hurled five strikeouts and gave up just two earned runs.

Game Two - Harford 7, Cecil 4 - Box Score

The Seahawks would get off to hot a start again thanks to Bailey Shindle's RBI-double. Shindle later scored on a double steal to make it 2-0 in favor of Cecil.

Harford traded shots with visitors, with Cecil poking ahead by a run on Justin Weaver's back knock that scored one in the fourth. However, a throwing error in the bottom of the frame tied the game.

The Seahawks bats cooled off from there, going down in order over the final three innings. Cecil ceeded the lead in the fifth after a sacrifice flyout made it 5-4 to Harford. A two-run homer from the Fighting Owls boosted their advantage to 7-4, which they saw out to win the game.

Sophomore backstop Kenny Scottborgh led Cecil at the dish with two hits and a stolen base. Hayden Kenney (1-1) took the defeat on the bump.
