Cecil Takes One From Allegany

CUMBERLAND - Cecil baseball took on Region 20 Division 2 foe Allegany Saturday morning, dropping the first contest in close fashion before blasting the Trojans to claim the second.

The Seahawks are now 5-9 (1-3 R20) on the year.

Game One - Allegany 2, Cecil 1 - Box Score

Cecil took an early 1-0 lead after Bailey Shindle's RBI-single drove home Hunter Sipel in the first. Seahawks starting pitcher John Smith kept Allegany off the board through six innings of work, striking out five batters along the way. Cecil's bats produced no further insurance for the freshman lefty heading into the last frame.

The final out would alude the Seahawks, as Allegany managed to put runners on in the bottom of the seventh. Smith (0-4) continued to battle, but eventually gave up two unearned run after defensive errors by Cecil to hand the game over to Trojans.
