Cecil Finishes 1-1 Against Finger Lakes

NORTH EAST - Early triumph gave way to eventual heartbreak on Thursday, as the Seahawks shared two games with the Finger Lakes Lakers on Thursday afternoon.

Cecil took game one via a walk-off, as Justin Weaver's RBI-double downed the Lakers in the opener. Finger Lakes exacted its revenge in the late stages of game two, scoring eight runs over the final two innings to salvage a split.

The Seahawks move to 4-8 on the season.

Game One - Cecil 9, Finger Lakes 8 - Box Score

The Seahawks and Lakers matched offensive efforts early, as both teams produced five runs in the second inning. Finger Lakes would plate two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth, but Cecil responded with three of its own to tie the contest once more.

After holding off the Lakers in the top of the seventh, the Seahawks planted a runner on first via Couper Stala's single. After Justin Cordero went down swinging, Weaver stepped up and crushed a pitch deep to the centerfield wall to score Stala and win the game.

Game Two - Finger Lakes 10, Cecil 8 - Box Score

Both teams got off to a fast start in the second contest, highlighted by a two-run blast via Justin Weaver to continue his strong day at the dish. Finger Lakes cooled off in the middle frames, while the Seahawks plated six runs across the next four innings.

Cecil choose to give seven pitchers a shot on the mound in game two. The ball would land in the hands of Ben Campbell in the sixth, who quickly put two runners on before a home run by Finger Lakes cleared the bases. After loading up the diamond, the Seahawks turned things over to Hunter Sipel. The Lakers had no problem with the change, as the next batter would hit a grand slam to give the visitors a 9-8 lead.

After Cecil went down in order in the bottom sixth, Finger Lakes would plate one more run to grow its advantange to two. A Sipel single and back-to-back walks put the winning run at first for the Seahawks, but three straight strikeouts squashed another Cecil comeback.
