Seahawks Drop Two More to Vikings

NORTH EAST - Cecil baseball was unable to rebound from its two losses the day before, falling in back-to-back games against Westchester on Sunday.

The Seahawks end the weekend with a 1-5 record.

Game One - Westchester 6, Cecil 2 - Box Score

Cecil's offense was unable to do much damage against the Vikings in the opener, collecting just four hits and two runs over seven innings. Seahawk batters struck out 12 times and left eight runners on base.

Couper Stala collected Cecil's only extra base hit of the contest, while Justin Cordero and Bailey Shindle recorded the Seahawks two RBI.

John Smith (0-2) took the loss on the mound for the Seahawks despite tossing a half-dozen strikeouts. Hayden Kenney came out of the bullpen for the final two innings, surrenduring just two unearned runs in the sixth after a defensive error extended the frame.

Game Two - Westchester 11, Cecil 5 - Box Score

A better performance on offense was spoiled by five Cecil errors and a six-run fifth inning for Westchester, leading to a victory for the Vikings in the final game of the weekend.

Before things went sour for Cecil in the fifth inning, the Seahawks took a 2-0 lead on solo home runs by Couper Stala and Justin Cordero. Westchester plated three in the third and one more in the fourth, but Cecil matched their effort with two runs in the bottom of the frame to tie the game.

Hunter Sipel's strong performance was spoiled by the Seahawks defensive issues, as the freshman allowed just one earned run and five hits while striking out seven batters. Sipel gave up three unearned runs, while five the seven runs given up by the bullpen were also unearned.
