Ramos, Byler Boost Cecil Past Allegany

NORTH EAST, Md. - Dylan Byler's base-clearing double and a gem from Jesus Ramos earned Cecil a sweep of Region 20 Division 2 foe Allegany on Sunday evening.

Ramos (2-3) went the distance on the mound, chairing five Trojans while allowing just three hits. After the three-run first, the sophomore limited Allegany to just one hit the rest of the way. Ramos forced the Trojans to go down in order from the second through the sixth.

Outside of a bases loaded walk, the Seahawks' offense struggled until the sixth. Cecil's would manage to load the bases to start sixth off an error, walk, and a single. Allegany followed this by plunking Gio Malatesta to drive home one run for the Seahawks.

The next batter would fly out, leaving the Seahawks hopes up to Byler with two away. The sophomore came up through in the clutch, drilling a ball down the left field line to score a trio of Seahawks. Allegany threatened to extend yet another game to extras in the seventh, but Ramos slammed the door by forcing a groundout to retire the side.

Cecil is 17-21 on the year and 5-7 in Region 20 D2 play after the victory.
