Seahawks Split With Raptors, Win Game Two in Extra Innings

The Cecil College baseball team played a double header Saturday, March 26 against Montgomery College. The Seahawks played two close games but ended up splitting with the Raptors to pick up one MD JUCO conference win.

In the first game, Cecil jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after the top of the first, until Montgomery College scored three runs in the bottom of the inning. The Raptors scored one run in the fourth and sixth inning to earn the win 5-2 over the Seahawks. Freshman starting pitcher Kyle Stively suffered the loss for the Seahawks going five innings, giving up five runs, and striking out three batters. For the Raptors, starting pitcher Gabriel Sjostrom earned the win going all seven innings, allowing one run, and striking out two. Freshman catcher Isaiah Livingston went 2-for-3 for the Seahawks in the loss. In the win, Aiden Williams went 2-4. Maverick Durant went 3-3 with one run scored for the Raptors.

In the second game, Cecil was down 6-2 going into the top of the seventh. The Seahawks came through in the clutch and scored four runs in the seventh to tie the game and send it to extra innings. Neither team scored in the eighth inning, however Cecil topped the Raptors with four runs in the top of the ninth to earn the win 10-6. Freshman Lane Weismiller went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and helped another to cross the plate in the win. Freshman Rafael Solano went 1-for-4 with two RBI for the Seahawks. For the Raptors, Kevin Knoess went 3-5 with 2 RBI in the loss. Cam Goodling added 3 hits for the Raptors.

The Cecil College baseball team next game is a double header Saturday, April 2nd when they host Anne Arundel Community College in a MD JUCO and NJCAA Region 20 DII match-up. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Brockell Field.
