Seahawks Struggle Offensively Against Region 20 Foe Potomac State

The Cecil College baseball team played a double header Wednesday against WVU Potomac State College. The Seahawks played tough in both games but suffered two losses against the Catamounts.

In the first game, Cecil was in a tight battle and had the lead 2-1 going into the top of the seventh. However, the Catamounts scored 5 runs in the top of the seventh to win the game 6-2. Starting pitcher Rafael Solano was solid in the start going 4.2 IP, only allowing one hit, and no earned runs for the Seahawks. Freshman pitcher Kyle Stively came in relief and took the loss giving up 4 earned runs in 1.1 IP. Starting pitcher Robert Kelley earned the win for the Catamounts going 6.1 IP and allowing no runs. Freshman catcher Isaiah Livingston went 2-3 on the day and scored one run for the Seahawks. Freshman left fielder Garrett Worthington also went 2-3 and had 1 RBI in the loss. For the Catamounts, center fielder Josh Hoffman had a home run to left field in the top of the seventh.

In the second game, Cecil's bats struggled only going for one hit through five innings. The Catamount's bats stayed hot in this game and defeated the Seahawks 13-1. Freshman Dylan Nickle earned the start on the mound for the Seahawks but only went 2.2 IP and allowed seven earned runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Jake Arnold got the win for the Catamounts going all five innings only allowing one earned run on one hit. Freshman left fielder Isaiah Livingston recorded the only hit for Cecil. Isaiah homered to left field in the bottom of the third inning. Shortstop Trevor Thomas went 3-4 with 6 RBI in the win for the Catamounts.

The Cecil College baseball team next game is a double header Saturday, March 19th when they travel to play Chesapeake College. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
