Seahawks Drop Two in Rematch With The Owls

The Cecil College baseball team played a double header Thursday against Prince George's Community College and suffered two losses, after splitting the day 1-1 in their first meeting with the Owls.

In the first game, Prince George's Community College jumped out with a quick 7-1 lead through two innings. The Seahawks tried to cut into the deficit throughout the game scoring three runs in the fourth and sixth but fell short in a 10-9 loss. Sophomore right fielder Evan James went 2-4 with 3 RBI that included a home run to left field for the Seahawks while freshman third baseman Lane Weismiller went 2-4 with 3 RBI. For Prince George's Community College, right fielder Hector Vargas went 3-5 with 3 RBI in the win and shortstop Miles LeVere went 1-4 that included a grand slam to help seal the win.

In the second game, Cecil was in another tight battle until the top of the seventh when Prince George's Community College exploded with 5 runs to take the lead and go on to win 10-6. The Seahawks pitching struggled in both games, but their bats stayed hot and nearly helped them to victory. Freshman catcher Garrett Worthington went 2-4 with 1 RBI that included a home run to center field on the first pitch of the game. Designated hitter Isaiah Livingston also had a home run to left field in the loss. In the win for Prince George's Community College, left fielder Dante Fairchild went 2-4 with a home run. Catcher Jose Acevedo went 1-2 with a home run.

The Cecil College baseball team next game is a double header Wednesday, March 16th when they host Potomac State College of WVU in a Region XX battle. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Brockell Field in North East, Md.
