On, July 2, 2019 the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced a new record of 6,656 student-athletes that earned a spot on one of the three NJCAA All-Academic teams, surpassing last year's total of 6,329 student-athletes.
Sophomore outfielders Jaily Paredes and Joseph Munoz were recognized by the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference and/or the NJCAA Region XX DII baseball committee for their outstanding performance this season. Paredes was named to the Second Team for both the conference and the region for the 2019 season. This is Paredes' second year in a row named to the NJCAA Region XX DII Second Team. Munoz was recognized as an Honorable Mention addition to All-Region XX DII team.
Cecil College baseball kept their NJCAA Region XX DII tournament hopes alive after two convincing wins over the Skipjacks of Chesapeake College on Tuesday. The Seahawks defeated the Skipjacks 9-4 in the first game of the afternoon's double-header and followed up with a 6-2 win in game two. The Seahawks improved their overall record to 6-26-1 overall, 5-16 in MD JUCO action, and 5-14 against region division opponents and will need to land within the top eight teams in Region XX DII, out of 11 programs, to be admitted into the tournament hosted by Frederick Community College.

Cecil College held its inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, March 30, with seven of the institution’s icons recognized. The Class of 2019 included pioneers who all had a hand in the creation, development, and growth of the Cecil athletic programs. The members of the inaugural class are Charles “Dick” Brockell (posthumously), William Lewit, Mary Maloney, Mary Etta Reedy, Dr. Thomas Topping, Shirley Weaver, and Thomas Wilhide.
Cecil College baseball's comeback attempt against MD JUCO and Region XX DII rival, the Riverhawks of Anne Arundel, fell one run short in nine innings on Tuesday. In their previous meeting with the Riverhawks, the Seahawks defeated them in eight innings by a score of 19-6, with sophomore pitcher Zachary Strong tossing a complete game.

Cecil College men's baseball opened their 2019 season with a loss in game one and a tie in game two to non-conference and non-region opponent Delaware Technical Community College (Georgetown campus) on Friday.

Learn more about Michael Worthington in the latest Student-Athlete Spotlight. Worthington, a native of Quarryville, Pa. and 2017 graduate of Solanco High School, is entering his sophomore season as an infielder on the Cecil College baseball team. In his first season as a Seahawk, Worthington collected 33 hits on 111 at bats, landing him fifth on the team in batting average as a freshman. Worthington also tallied 21 stolen bases this past spring.
