Athletic Department Names Dylan Kaplan Head Men's & Women's Cross Country Coach

The Cecil College athletic department is proud to announce the hiring of Dylan Kaplan as the next head coach of the men's and women's cross country programs at Cecil College.

Kaplan brings NCAA Division I and Division III coaching experience to Cecil College while most recently serving as the assistant track & field coach under Stephen Kimes at Wesley College (NCAA DIII | Dover, De.) and Delaware State University (NCAA DI | Dover, De.). While as Wesley, Kaplan specialized in recruiting and operations and also provided leadership to throwers, short sprints, and distance running athletes. The men's track & field team reached its highest ever national ranking at 6th in DIII while the women's team was ranked at 17th. In addition to his coaching duties, Kaplan served as the Interim/Assistant Director of Sports Information from October 2013 through May 2017 at Wesley College. At Delaware State, Kaplan coached javelin throwers and sprinters.

Kaplan was a former NJCAA student-athlete at Potomac State College of WVU where he participated in men's baseball and helped his team to a Region XX Championship in the 2012-2013 season. He then transferred to Wesley College in 2013 where he served as a captian of the track & field team and competed in the 60m, 100m, 200m, 4x1 relay, 4x2 relay, and javelin.

Kaplan received his bachelor's degree in multimedia communications from Wesley College and went on to receive his master's degree in sports leadership with a concentration in college athletic administration from Northeastern University.
