Student-Athlete Spotlight: Rachel Durham

Learn more about Rachel Durham in the latest Student-Athlete Spotlight. Durham, a native of Middletown, De. and a 2017 graduate of Appoquinamink High School, is in her second year as a member of Cecil College's softball team.

During her freshman campaign, Durham led the Seahawks in hitting with a .505 AVG and collected 47 hits, including 21 of them going for extra bases. On the field, Rachel was recognized with Region XX DII First Team Honors, Maryland JUCO First Team Honors, Maryland JUCO Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of March while also being named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team for her outstanding work in the classroom.

What is your favorite course you are enrolled in this semester & why?

My favorite course this semester is Child Growth and Development because I love learning about children and the processes that help them grow and learn. What I've learned in this class will really help me in my future career.

What is your favorite movie about sports & why?

My favorite movie about sports is "The Sandlot" because it's funny and it has a big dog in it.

If you were stranded on an island, which one of your teammates would you want with you & why?

I would hope that the whole team would be with me because everyones brings different skills and humor that would help us survive and get off the island.

Who is your favorite professional athlete & why?

I like Chase Utley, but I'm not sure why he's my favorite.

What is your favorite meal to eat for breakfast?

My favorite breakfast meal is cinnamon bun french toast casserole.

What is one thing on your bucket list?

I want to go to a dog shelter and play with all the puppies at once.

If you could have one super power, what would it be & why?

I would want to teleport because I could be anywhere in a matter of seconds.

What is your dream occupation & why?

If I could get paid for petting puppies, I would do that. But, since you can't, I want to be a Special Education Pre-School Teacher because they make my heart happy.
