Student-Athlete Spotlight: Jaycie Coates

Coates, a native of Elkton, Maryland and a 2018 graduate of Elkton High School, just completed her freshman season as a middle blocker on the Cecil College volleyball team. In her first season as a Seahawk, Coates was second on the team with 19 blocks and added 12 kills and 8 digs as her team finished their season at the NJCAA Region XX DII quarter-finals and went 13-6 overall and 8-2 in the conference.

Jaycie is a majoring in nursing at Cecil College.

What is your favorite course you are enrolled in this semester & why?

My favorite class this semester is the Freshman Composition class.

What is your favorite movie about sports & why?

"The Blind Side" is my favorite movie about sports because it has a very good story and is emotional.

If you were stranded on an island, which one of your teammates would you want with you & why?

I would probably pick Madeline Eckerd because she is funny.

Who is your favorite professional athlete & why?

I don't have one.

What is your favorite meal to eat for breakfast?

My favorite breakfast meal includes french toast, bacon, scrapple and a little bit of eggs on the side.

What is one thing on your bucket list?

I really want to sky dive.

If you could have one super power, what would it be & why?

I would want to teleport because I could go anywhere I wanted in an instant.

What is your dream occupation & why?

I want to be a nurse because I like helping others.
