Student-Athlete Spotlight: Joe Murray

Learn more about Joseph Murray in the latest Student-Athlete Spotlight. Murray, a native of Little Britain, Pa. and 2018 graduate of Cecil College, just completed his sophomore season as an outfielder on the Cecil College baseball team. Murray was reliable in center field for the Seahawks after recording 63 put outs with a fielding percentage of .958 during the 2018 season. He also added 30 hits on the offensive end and recorded his first career home run this past spring.

Joe Murray was named NJCAA Third Team All-Academic for the second time in his career as a Seahawk and is currently weighing his options with plans of transferring to an NCAA-sponsored DII or DIII four-year school in Pennsylvania to continue his academic and athletic career.

What are you studying at Cecil College?

I recently graduated with my Associate's degree in Business Management from Cecil College.

What was your favorite spot on campus?

The outdoor balcony on the third floor of the math building.

What is your favorite inspirational quote and who said it?

Who is your favorite professional athlete & why?

My favorite professional athlete is Peyton Manning because he is fierce competitor, as well as a great role model for kids.

What is your favorite meal to eat?

My dad's homemade hamburgers and hot dogs.

What is your favorite sports-related memory?

Winning the league championship in my senior year of high school at Solanco High School!

What is one thing on your bucket list?

See the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and visit places in New Zealand where the Lord of the Rings was filmed.

What is one word that describes you & why?

I would describe myself as concientious. I take my responsibilities seriously and give my best effort.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Working an accounting job.
