Cecil to Host Region XX Basketball Tournaments

Cecil College is thrilled to be this year's host of the 2018 NJCAA Region XX Division II men's and women's basketball tournaments. We hope that you will join us to experience some of this season's most competitive match-ups.

It is our pleasure to have fifteen of the most successful programs in the region join us this weekend. We will kick off the excitement on Thursday afternoon with the women's tournament that will include: Cecil College, Frederick Community College, Chesapeake College, Northern Virginia Community College, Hagerstown Community College, Potomac State College of WVU, and Allegany College of Maryland. Friday afternoon will feature the men's tournament that will include: Frederick Community College, Community College of Beaver County, College of Southern Maryland, Cecil College, Howard Community College, Potomac State College of WVU, Northern Virginia Community College, and Garrett College.

These programs will be competing for a spot in Saturday's semi-final rounds with the hope of advancing to Championship Sunday, where we will name our NJCAA Region XX Champions and competitors in the National Tournaments. The Cecil College women's basketball team was granted the #1 seed of the tournament, boasting an undefeated record in Divison II. After their first round bye, the Seahawks are scheduled to face the winner of Thursday's first round contest between the Nighthawks of NOVA and the Hawks of Hagerstown on Saturday, March 10 at 12:00 p.m. In their last meeting with either team, the Seahawks won by a margin of 30 points or more.

The Cecil College men's basketball team is seeded at the #4 spot, facing the Dragons of Howard Community College of Friday at 4:00 p.m. In their last meeting in early December, the Seahawks defeated the Dragons 104-96.
