NJCAA Celebrates First-Ever NJCAA Day

NJCAA Celebrates First-Ever NJCAA Day

On Thursday, October 19 the NJCAA will host its first-ever NJCAA Day to celebrate the highlights of all past and present student-athletes, coaches, staff members, and administrators that are part of the organization. Cecil College is proud to participate in the NJCAA's efforts to celebrate the past history and current success of our Seahawks.

Brandon Sherman, a sophomore on the men's basketball team, shared, "I chose an NJCAA school because it was affordable for my family and I, and it gave me the opportunity to further my basketball career as a Seahawk."

Head Athletic Trainer, Taylor Minderlein, shares how working for an NJCAA-sponsored institution makes for a great career. "Being an Athletic Trainer in the NJCAA means  I am able to interact with and treat student-athletes with varying skill levels and intensities. This variety, coupled with the usual two-year turnaround of athletes, keeps my job interesting and entertaining!"

Aleshia Shires, a sophomore on the women's softball team, shared why the NJCAA was important to her. "The NJCAA means I can focus on my academics while developing my softball skills so I am better prepared to transfer to a four-year school," she said.

"Being a student-athlete in the NJCAA, at Cecil College, has helped me attain a quality education that will prepare me for the future," said Andrew Schutt, a sophomore transfer student-athlete on the baseball team. "I plan to graduate in the spring and pursue a scholarship to a four-year college or university."
