Athletic Participation & Eligibility

Pre-Participation Documentation

Upon arrival at Cecil College, and prior to the start of each season, student-athletes must complete specific documentation. Failure to complete all documentation will result in delayed participation in a student-athlete’s respective sport.

The following information must be submitted in hard copy to Ed Durham, Director of Athletics:

  • Official High School Transcript (includes graduation date and school signature) for new or transer student-athletes only.
  • Official College Transcript (if attended any other college) for new or transfer student-athletes, or current student-athletes who have taken college courses at another institution.

The following information must be submitted online using SportsWare Software:

Returning student-athletes:

  • Verify and update any information from previous year
  • Upload a new, current physical
  • Complete NJCAA Affidavit, Preauthorization Form, and Reporting Policy documents
  • Text your Athletic Trainer for additional instructions

New Student-athletes:

  • Create a SportsWare account by clicking here
  • Refer to the instructional video by clicking here to complete all required information on Sportsware (including back and front images of insurance card)
  • Upload a current physical
  • Complete NJCAA Affidavit, Preauthorization Form, and Reporting Policy documents
  • Text your Athletic Trainer for additional instructions

Student-Athlete Orientation

Student-athletes are required to attend Student-Athlete Orientation. Dates and times of Student-Athlete Orientation for the 2022-2023 academic year are TBD. Check back soon.

Student-Athlete Handbook

Student-athletes are required to abide by the Cecil College Student Code of Conduct and the Cecil College Student-Athlete Handbook. These policies will be discussed at student-athlete orientation & the handbook agreement will be signed and kept on file in athletics' office. Eligibility Information

“Student-athlete” can be defined as someone who dedicates their efforts to academic excellence while representing Cecil College in intercollegiate competition.  At Cecil College, academics is the first priority, as specific guidelines are mandated by the NJCAA for participation in intercollegiate athletics.  It is the responsibility of the student-athlete to achieve and maintain good academic standing. 

Athletic Eligibility

Each student-athlete, upon arrival at Cecil College, must complete ALL of the following prior to participation:

  • Submit an official high school transcript, sealed and mailed or hand-delivered to the athletics office
  • Submit an official college transcript of any other college attended, seal and mailed or hand-delivered to the athletics office
  • Health information via SportsWare
  • Attend student-athlete orientation
  • Sign the Student-Athlete Handbook Agreement
  • Sign the NJCAA Eligibility Affidavit 

Student-athletes are granted four years of eligibility; any participation at Cecil counts towards the years of eligibility.

Academic Eligibility

Cecil College adheres to the academic guidelines established by the NJCAA. Each student-athlete must:

  • Enroll in and complete a minimum of 12-credit hours per semester
  • Achieve a GPA of 2.0 or higher
